Preventing Rabies in Pets

Rabies is a fatal disease that attacks the nervous system of mammals. For centuries, rabies has been one of the most feared diseases in the world — both for the agonizing death it causes in infected animals and the risk it poses for humans.

Fortunately, you can work with your veterinarian to help prevent rabies in your dog, cat, horse, ferret or other domestic animals.

You can do your part by taking your pet into the clinic for regular visits and making sure rabies vaccinations are kept up to date. For more information, visit How You Can Prevent Rabies.

We invite you to learn more about rabies and an effective rabies vaccine that your veterinarian may recommend for your pet.

If you wish to know more, we’ve provided helpful links to a variety of other useful sources.

Of course, your most valuable resource is your veterinarian. Be sure to consult him or her with any questions or concerns about your pet and rabies. If you have recently moved, or do not have a veterinarian yet, use the vet locator to find one in your area.
